Op verzoek van de lokale Entrepreleadersfoundation starten we een pilot in Zuid-Afrika. Koken op open vuur leidt namelijk vaak tot disastreuse branden.
- Ignite a Better Future s gevraagd om een pilot te doen met 200 gezinnen in de wijk Philippi, Samora in Kaapstad
- De pilot is het begin van een grotere uitrol in deze township (2 miljoen inwoners) en een opmaat naar volgende townships. Enkele statistieken laten zien waarom dit echt nodig is.
At the request of the local Entrepreleadersfoundation we are starting a pilot in South Africa. Because cooking on an open fire often leads to disastrous fires.
- Ignite a Better Future has been asked to do a pilot with 200 families in the quarter Philippi, Samora in Cape Town
- The pilot is the start for rollout on a larger scale in this township (2 million inhabitants) and prelude to subsequent townships. Some statistics show why it is really necessary.
Niger, West Africa
- In 2023 werd Ignite Now Niger opgericht. Er werden informatiebijeenkomsten gehouden en 2.500 mensen schreven zich in voor deelname aan het programma voor schoon koken.
- De school CES|Rive droite heeft 5.000 leerlingen. Steeds meer kinderen komen zonder eten naar school. Met IgniteNow Niger kwamen we op het idee van een schoolrestaurant: Resto-Scolaire Harobanda – Clean Cooking.
- Doel: elke week honderden kinderen van maaltijden voorzien en tegen de zomer van 2025 minstens 1.000 gezinnen laten koken op een schone kookplaat. We werken met de Pandacooker en er worden twee keer per week informatiebijeenkomsten georganiseerd op de school.
- Met de keuken stoten we jaarlijks 240 ton minder CO2 uit dan met traditionele vuren, wordt er 80% minder hout gebruikt en dalen de kosten ook met 80%.
- In 2023, Ignite Now Niger was established. Information meetings were held and 2,500 people registered to participate in the clean cooking programme.
- The school CES|Rive droite has 5,000 pupils. More and more children are coming to school without food. With IgniteNow Niger, we came up with the idea of a school restaurant: Resto-Scolaire Harobanda – Clean Cooking.
- Goal: providing hundreds of kids with meals every week and at least 1,000 families cooking on a clean cooker by summer 2025. We work with the Pandacooker and Information sessions are organised at the school twice a week.
- With the kitchen, we emit 240 tonnes less CO2 on an annual basis than on traditional fires, 80% less wood is used and the costs also drop by 80%.
Uganda, East Africa
